The ХI International Contemporary Music Festival “Europe-Asia” is going to take place in April 5–7, 2013 in the city of Kazan.

The International Contemporary Music Festival “Europe-Asia” is one of the greatest and most remarkable Republican events. The history of the Festival began in 1993. The international Festival of Japanese and Tatar music held in 1992 laid the foundation to the present Festival. During this time the Festival was attended by the guests from 25  countries of the world. The founders of the Festival are the Ministry of Culture and the Union of Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan. The artistic director and inspirer of the Festival is the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Union of Composers, the Chairman of the Union of Composers RT Rashid Kalimullin.

Musicians from Sweden, Switzerland, Croatia, Vietnam, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Japan, China and Russia are going to be the guests of the present Festival.

By tradition the Festival will be opened by a symphony concert. It will be held on 5th of April at 18.30 in the State Big Concert Hall named after S. Saidashev with the participation of the Kazan State Chamber Orchestra “La Primavera” under the guidance of Rustem Abiazov. Works by composers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Russia will be performed at the Festival.

On 6th of April there will be concerts of chamber music. The concerts will be held in the concert halls of the Kazan Music College named after I.V.Auhadeev (13:00), exposition hall of the National Museum of Tatarstan (15:00), in the hall of the House of Peoples’ Friendship (17:00), on 7th of April the matinée will be held at the Union of Composers of the RT (13:00) and the Chamber Hall of the State Big Concert Hall named after S. Saidashev (15:00).

The festival will end with Gala Concert on 7th of April at 17:00 in the State Big Concert Hall named after S. Saidashev. Musicians Franziska Welti (Sweden, soprano), DuoEgo (Switzerland, the duo Monica Danielson, mezzo-soprano and Per Sjogren, drums), piano duo “East-West” (Rustem Kudoyarov, Russia and Sabrina Zelich, Croatia), duo «Rahat» (Turkmenistan, Serdar Haydarov, tuyduk and Rovshen Nepesov, piano), ensembles from Kazakhstan and Vietnam, Orchestra «New Music» directed by Anna Gulish will take part in the Festival.
