Milan Symphony Orchestra named after Giuseppe Verdi goes to Russia as ambassador of Italian music

The Russian tour of the Orchestra is timed to the 40th anniversary of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group in Russia and carried out with the assistance of the Embassy of Italy in Russia. The orchestra will give two concerts: on Sunday November 25 in Moscow in the famous Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and on Tuesday, November 27 at St. Petersburg State Academic Capella. The concert is organized in the framework of ‘’Exhibitaly – Italian excellence today «, representing to the Russians the best of “Made in Italy” goods. 

Maestroо Jader Bignamini is conducting an orchestra touring concert, where Francesca Dego plays the violin. She is one of the best performers of the new generation. Francesca Dego plays the violin by Francesco Ruggeri (1697, Cremona). With the kind permission the London violin fund “Florian Leonhard Fine Violins” Francesca also plays the violin by Guarneri (1734, Cremona), formerly owned by Ruggiero Ricci.

The program includes music by Italian composers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: Overture to «William Tell» by Gioachino Rossini, Concerto for violin and orchestra № 1 in D Major Opus 6 Nicolo Paganini (Violin Francesca Dego), and Overture to the opera «The Sicilian Vespers» by Giuseppe Verdi, Ottorino Respighi “The Pines of Rome”. Russian audience has the opportunity to meet with a fine example of performing and music Italian Culture.

The collective of musicians, brought together by Vladimir Delman in 1993, now firmly entrenched in the performing symphonic Olympus. The repertoire ranges from Bach to the symphonic masterpieces of art of the nineteenth century, and music composers of the twentieth century.  Starting with the 2009-2010 season chief conductor of the orchestra is Chinese- Zhang Xian.

The orchestra is involved in cultural and educational activities, and, in fact, is the pinnacle of the whole music system called «The Foundation of Milan Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir named after. Giuseppe Verdi. »

The Foundation was established in 2002 and aims to promote the extensive plans for orchestra named after Giuseppe Verdi. The Foundation’s mission is not only to promote the best music samples, but also the overall development of musical culture in the country, including schools, hospitals, prisons, forming a kind of social services for the benefit of the citizen and society, with special attention to the education of new generations. Concerts will be held with the support of Intesa Sanpaolo.
